a european adventure
our itinerary:
London to Amsterdam: the city was the perfect place to ease into our trip with ints relaxed vibe, canals and cycling culture. We spent a few days exploring Anne Frank’s house, quirky neighbourhoods like Jordaan and if you’re looking for the BEST apple pie you must go to Winkle 43
Amsterdam to Berlin: We arrived just as the football Euros started :/ so nights where taken up watching the games, however the atmosphere was incredible. During the day we explored the culture and history, like the East Side Gallery and Berlin’s edgy creative atmosphere.
Berlin to Budapest: Budapest stole our hearts with its STUNNING architecture and laid- back feel. A huge highlight was watching Coldplay live and off course nights out starting at Szimpler Kurt and onto Instant Fogas.
Budapest to Zagreb: Croatia’s capital is smaller and quieter, however there was still a lot to do. We visited many museums, like the Museum of Broken Relationships which made me baby cry.
Zagreb to Split: We wrapped up our trip in Split, a beautiful coastal city that felt like a well- deserved reward after weeks of train rides. Split offered the perfect blend of history and relaxation.
navigating european trains
Download train apps: like RailPlanner, the Interail App, Trainline, Citymapper and even google maps were life savers.
Pack light: carrying heavy bags onto trains and through busy stations is hard work (even if you make your brother carry most of your things!). I would recommend a backpack, even though it’s not the most glamorous it’s so useful.
Reserve seats!!!: don’t get caught out like us, most European trains require you to buy a ticket and a seat reservation. They won’t let you on if you don’t have a seat reservation (even if you have a ticket). Also make sure you book in advance as they sell out really quick!
european fashion and cultural inspo for dear beany
I absolutely love European fashion, its so effortlessly chic and they aren’t afraid of colour. Each city had its own unique vibe, and its fashion defo reflected that. The muted tones of Amsterdam and ‘Copenhagen girly’ aesthetic, the boldness of Berlin and breezy outfits in Croatia all played a part in the fabrics and palettes I have decided to use. The adventure certainly left a lasting impression on me and the vision for dear beany.
